Kill Bill Mock Storyboard

This was an exercise where we chose a scene in a show or movie to illustrate the applications and purpose of storyboarding. Using only 10 key frames, we had to recreate the sequence of events from the scene and clearly infrom the viewer what was going to happen and the purpose.

For mine, I chose a scene from Kill Bill vol. 1 where Orin Ishii, a new Yakuza boss, is having a celebratory meeting with her lieutenants that ends with a show of fierce authority and ruthlessness.

Using a rough anime art style, I illustrated the general scene setting,  the camera angles, the unique aspect ratio that the movie would be edited around, and the actors’ expressions ranging from subtle to exaggerated. I also incorporated small narrations and action lines to communicate how the scene would flow and escalate.

Overall, I am very happy with how the reverse storyboard turned out. It has helped me with creating my own storyboards, and I’m looking forward to trying techniques like this one out in the future!
